Friends & Supporters

Help to encourage young artists at the start of their careers by becoming a friend or supporter of The Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society.

About the Friends of the Mid-days

The Friends scheme was set up over 25 years ago when it became obvious that grants were diminishing and business sponsorship was becoming increasingly difficult to come by.  Over the past years, both the economic and commercial climate have given rise to a drastic reduction in the number of companies able to support us and a greater reliance on private patronage; in consequence we are enormously grateful to our Friends for their invaluable contribution.  I must stress that we appreciate not only the financial assistance but also the moral support gained from a body of people who care about the aims and the continued existence of this society.

As a rough guide we ask supporters of the Friends’ scheme to pledge at least £50 annually, but we do accept smaller contributions.  Gift Aid forms and Standing Order Mandates are available from the Society on request.

In return you can be assured that your generous donation will help the Society to continue its work.  As a token of our appreciation your name will appear in the annual brochure and one concert per season will be designated as supported by the Friends (for which you will receive two complementary tickets). You will also receive a bi-annual newsletter.

In recent years it has become our custom to invite Friends to a special thank you concert with buffet lunch during the summer break and to organise small parties of Friends to attend the Society’s annual auditions.

About the Supporters of the Mid-days

Supporters of the Society are individuals or small organisations who give sums in excess of £300. Supporters' names will be accredited to the concert of their choice and they will each receive ten complimentary tickets.  Supporters giving in excess of £1000 will receive 50 complimentary tickets in line with business sponsors.

Supporters may also like to entertain their guests to lunch or drinks. Private facilities are available at the Bridgewater Hall and the catering department will be pleased to advise on menus and costs.

Should you be interested in supporting a concert please let us know and we shall send you further information.
