Eloisa-Fleur Thom is among a select group of exceptional young professional musicians whose training and development has been supported by the long established Musicians' Benevolent Fund. The Manchester Mid-days also acknowledges with gratitude the valuable support that the Fund gives to the young artists programme which provides the core of the Mid-day season each year. The centre piece of Eloisa-Fleur's recital is the sonata which Maurice Ravel completed in 1927 and which fuses a classical refinement of form with elements from the 'blues'. On a trip to the United States in the following year Ravel commented:'While I adopted this popular form of your music, it is still French music, Ravel's music.”
